Besides the scenery, nearly nothing of the books can be found in this movie. Where the books speak about the road to friendship, self-regulation of the boys, fairness and regard for others, the movie is only cheap pranks - not following the rules in the books, that a Schreckenstein prank must be funny for all, nothing gets destroyed...
"Burg Schreckenstein" or "Castle Schreckenstein" is a new German movie (2016 release) that runs for slightly over 1.5 hours and was directed by Ralf Huettner, a German filmmaker who has worked in the industry for over three decades.
I watched this movie together with my daughter and we both loved this movie the same as the underlying soundtrack. The movie is based on a book which was one of the common books that usually any of my friends got to know during our childhood.
