I grew up between the Pacific rim nations and Texas. Yes it could have had done better on some parts, but let's be honest here, this film transmits a positive message to the females of not only one generation here.
I'd just like to point out that this series was not about the taming of the West or the Civil War as someone referenced. It is about the establishment of a town in Brazoria County Texas during the Texas Revolution.
Historical movies or fictional movies based on actual history are so often centered completely around men. Same as the history books.
